Thank You For Your Continued Support

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Dear Christian Brothers and Sisters,
Lucia and I want to thank all of you for your support during 2011 and for your continued support in 2012. We have no
words that are able to express our gratitude to you. We are thankful not only for your financial support but also for your
confidence in and obvious love for us. We have found raising support to be very challenging over the past year, but we are
determined to continue, knowing that God has called us for this purpose. We will be looking at different ways to raise all of
the financial support that we need and we will continue to communicate our progress and needs to all of you. We ask that
you consider recommending us for support to your Christian friends in other Churches and congregations. We have learned
that we will only get enough support to go if we have individuals supporting us instead of Churches. We know that our
network of supporters is only as big as your network of friends, families, and businesses. Currently our mission account is in Cleveland, Tennessee it contains everything that has been given, we have taken nothing from the account since it was established. We still have a way to go but we know God is faithful and we will receive
all we need in His perfect timing. Various things have happened in our lives since we started this journey and we can see
reasons why God still wanted us here until now, there were lives that we had to touch and works we had to do, but
His call remains and our determination is just as great. Please continue to pray for us and we promise to continue to pray
for you. God bless each of you richly with all spiritual blessings.

In Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior,
Brother and Sister Kennedy

Called to Brazil
BRAZIL — Lucia knows the importance of missions and has a desire to share the gospel with those from her native country. The Kennedys have been called by the Lord to serve in Brazil and share the gospel.

Tim and Lucia Kennedy

Jack (Tim) and Lucia have a burden for the people of Brazil; to give the gospel to the lost, to disciple people in the faith, and to work to develop national servant leaders.

Tim graduated from Cincinnati Bible College in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Mission and Education. In 1996, he completed a Master of Arts degree in Practical Ministries/Pastoral Counseling at the Cincinnati Bible Seminary. Tim has served as an adjunct professor at the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati, and is a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor. He is also an ordained minister and has taught in church since he graduated with his bachelor’s degree, serving as church counselor, and previously as the senior adult leader. Tim made a career of working in the criminal justice system and is a trainer for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, as well as for the Ohio Community Corrections Associations.

Lucia was born in Brazil and came to know the Lord under the ministry of a missionary from the United States. She has always worked in the church and has served as church pianist, children’s church teacher, women’s ministries secretary, and senior adult leader. Lucia knows the importance of missions and has a desire to share the gospel with those from her native country.

The Kennedys have been called by the Lord to serve in Brazil and share the gospel. They have a strong desire to mentor and assist Brazilian nationals in the Great Commission. Having always worked closely together, Tim and Lucia know that in order for them to be obedient to the Lord, they must work from a team approach.

Update on Regina

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Regina is doing fantastically at Lee University and has made some excellent contacts.  She is working on a double major, Global Missiology and Teaching English as a Second Language.  She has decided to stay in Cleveland through the summer so she can take summer classes.  She is attending the Portuguese Speaking Church of God and  goes to a Portuguese Bible study with a group of Brazilians.

Update on Priscilla and Andy

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Priscilla is going into her seventh month of pregnancy and the Lord is displaying His wonderful hand of mercy to her daily.  On March 13th the sisters at Fairfield blessed her incredibly through graciously providing a Baby Shower for her.  She and Andy received some excellent gifts and a considerable sum of money to assist them with the quickly approaching arrival of their son.  Priscilla and Andy are deeply appreciative of the profound blessings they received from Fairfield.

Priscilla and Andy recently presented their plans for Ecuador to the Church on Fire in Harrison, Ohio under the leadership of Pastor Doug Combs.  Pastor Combs and the Church on Fire have promised to give them their support and are making Priscilla and Andy one of their primary mission outreaches.

Priscilla and Andy are leaving for Ecuador from Indianapolis International Airport on Tuesday April 5th.  Please pray for the Lord to keep them safe.  Please, also, pray for all of us.  This separation is going to be difficult for the whole family; we have already spent a good deal of time in tears, so we need your prayerful support.

Progress Made

Lucia and I have been busy preparing for the day we reach Brazil.  We have sent letters requesting to present our plans for ministry in Brazil to 50 Churches in Ohio.  The Lord has moved wonderfully for us and we have been contacted by the missions committee at Princeton Pike.  We will be meeting with the committee on May 15th after morning worship to discuss our plans and hopefully they will decide to support us financially and prayerfully.  We have been very encouraged by Princeton Pike’s desire to learn more about our plans.  As of the writing of this letter, they are the only one out of the 50 who have responded.  Please pray that the Lord will move in the hearts of the pastors of the other 49.

We are sending out another set of letters today to an additional 25 churches.  Since, at this point, we have to pay for all of the postage for this newsletter and for the letters to the various Churches out of my employment income it becomes financially challenging to send mass mailings. We are progressing incrementally as we can afford to progress.  We investigated the costs of mass mailings with the post office but we do not have the volume required for reduced rates.  If you would like to receive the letter via email instead of through the postal service please let us know.

Ministering in Brazil Print E-mail
BRAZIL — The Church of God has been busy establishing ministries across Brazil in an effort to meet the spiritual, emotional, educational, and physical needs of the people. Lucia and I have been called by God to become involved in the work taking place in Brazil, and desire your support financially and prayerfully.

Brazil is a country of vast diversity that has plunged into the 21st century without the spiritual direction needed to anchor its people. The Gospel is being preached in Brazil by various Christian denominations, but the need is so great that those currently preaching the Gospel and engaged in Christian benevolence cannot fill the need. The Church of God has been busy establishing ministries across Brazil in an effort to meet the spiritual, emotional, educational, and physical needs of the people.

Lucia and I have been called by God to become involved in the work taking place in Brazil, and desire your support financially and prayerfully. Lucia is originally from Brazil and came to know the Lord through the ministry of missionaries, and believes that God now wants her to return and share the Gospel with others, so that they can experience life-changing salvation. I have built a career working with substance abuse and dependency in the criminal justice system, and am a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor who believes that God wants me to use my skills with those in Brazil who are enslaved by sin and bound by addiction. I also believe that God is directing me to educate other Christians to work with addicts and their families, in order to bring deliverance.

Lucia has worked extensively in Children’s Church for many years and has served as church pianist, as well as, currently serving with me as the Leaders of the Young at Heart Senior Adult ministry at the Fairfield Church of God. I am an ordained minister in the Church of God and have considerable experience preaching. I have the gift of teaching and have always taught either Sunday School or on Wednesday evenings. I also have a counseling ministry at Fairfield and work with individuals and families.

Please pray for our ministry opportunities, and for God’s hand upon our lives.

Local Church Supports “Home Grown” Missionaries Print E-mail

Tim and Lucia Kennedy receiving support from Pastor McCoy and Missions Representative R. Terrell Brinson

It is always a special day when someone accepts the call of God upon his or her life; then makes the decision to “Go’ where God leads them, even if it means overseas…another country…a different language…different food…unfamiliar surroundings…and the list goes on and on.

It was my honor to participate in the recent commissioning service for newly-appointed missionaries to Brazil, Tim and Lucia Kennedy. The Kennedys attend the Fairfield Church of God in Ohio where Darryl McCoy is pastor.

More than a year ago, Pastor Darryl McCoy introduced me to the Kennedys and made clear their heart for missions and desire to minister in Brazil. Now they have fulfilled the requirements set by the World Missions Board, and they are ready to move forward in ministry. The Kennedys have been assigned to Goiânia, Brazil, as missionary educators.

Tim and Lucia Kennedy began the process of raising funds needed as missionaries to Brazil. They have the support of their pastor, Bishop Darryl McCoy, his wife Denise, and the entire congregation, as evidenced by the tremendous response to the missions offering given on December 5, 2010. The local church family under Pastor McCoy’s leadership, promised continued prayerful and financial support toward their “homegrown” missionaries. Pastor McCoy said: “This ministry is an extension of our own church as we support the Kennedys while they’re in Brazil.”

Lucia is originally from Brazil and came to know the Lord through the ministry of missionaries. Tim has built a career working with substance abuse and dependency in a criminal justice setting.

The Kennedys are excited about the future and what God has prepared for them in Brazil. The Lord has called them to minister the gospel to the lost, work with those bound by addiction, and train and disciple new believers. They have four daughters and four grandchildren (with another one on the way). Their children support them in their call to Brazil, and know that Tim and Lucia are doing what God would have them do.

We believe God is about to do something great in Brazil!
