Update on Regina

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Regina is doing fantastically at Lee University and has made some excellent contacts.  She is working on a double major, Global Missiology and Teaching English as a Second Language.  She has decided to stay in Cleveland through the summer so she can take summer classes.  She is attending the Portuguese Speaking Church of God and  goes to a Portuguese Bible study with a group of Brazilians.

Update on Priscilla and Andy

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Priscilla is going into her seventh month of pregnancy and the Lord is displaying His wonderful hand of mercy to her daily.  On March 13th the sisters at Fairfield blessed her incredibly through graciously providing a Baby Shower for her.  She and Andy received some excellent gifts and a considerable sum of money to assist them with the quickly approaching arrival of their son.  Priscilla and Andy are deeply appreciative of the profound blessings they received from Fairfield.

Priscilla and Andy recently presented their plans for Ecuador to the Church on Fire in Harrison, Ohio under the leadership of Pastor Doug Combs.  Pastor Combs and the Church on Fire have promised to give them their support and are making Priscilla and Andy one of their primary mission outreaches.

Priscilla and Andy are leaving for Ecuador from Indianapolis International Airport on Tuesday April 5th.  Please pray for the Lord to keep them safe.  Please, also, pray for all of us.  This separation is going to be difficult for the whole family; we have already spent a good deal of time in tears, so we need your prayerful support.

Progress Made

Lucia and I have been busy preparing for the day we reach Brazil.  We have sent letters requesting to present our plans for ministry in Brazil to 50 Churches in Ohio.  The Lord has moved wonderfully for us and we have been contacted by the missions committee at Princeton Pike.  We will be meeting with the committee on May 15th after morning worship to discuss our plans and hopefully they will decide to support us financially and prayerfully.  We have been very encouraged by Princeton Pike’s desire to learn more about our plans.  As of the writing of this letter, they are the only one out of the 50 who have responded.  Please pray that the Lord will move in the hearts of the pastors of the other 49.

We are sending out another set of letters today to an additional 25 churches.  Since, at this point, we have to pay for all of the postage for this newsletter and for the letters to the various Churches out of my employment income it becomes financially challenging to send mass mailings. We are progressing incrementally as we can afford to progress.  We investigated the costs of mass mailings with the post office but we do not have the volume required for reduced rates.  If you would like to receive the letter via email instead of through the postal service please let us know.

Ministering in Brazil Print E-mail
BRAZIL — The Church of God has been busy establishing ministries across Brazil in an effort to meet the spiritual, emotional, educational, and physical needs of the people. Lucia and I have been called by God to become involved in the work taking place in Brazil, and desire your support financially and prayerfully.

Brazil is a country of vast diversity that has plunged into the 21st century without the spiritual direction needed to anchor its people. The Gospel is being preached in Brazil by various Christian denominations, but the need is so great that those currently preaching the Gospel and engaged in Christian benevolence cannot fill the need. The Church of God has been busy establishing ministries across Brazil in an effort to meet the spiritual, emotional, educational, and physical needs of the people.

Lucia and I have been called by God to become involved in the work taking place in Brazil, and desire your support financially and prayerfully. Lucia is originally from Brazil and came to know the Lord through the ministry of missionaries, and believes that God now wants her to return and share the Gospel with others, so that they can experience life-changing salvation. I have built a career working with substance abuse and dependency in the criminal justice system, and am a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor who believes that God wants me to use my skills with those in Brazil who are enslaved by sin and bound by addiction. I also believe that God is directing me to educate other Christians to work with addicts and their families, in order to bring deliverance.

Lucia has worked extensively in Children’s Church for many years and has served as church pianist, as well as, currently serving with me as the Leaders of the Young at Heart Senior Adult ministry at the Fairfield Church of God. I am an ordained minister in the Church of God and have considerable experience preaching. I have the gift of teaching and have always taught either Sunday School or on Wednesday evenings. I also have a counseling ministry at Fairfield and work with individuals and families.

Please pray for our ministry opportunities, and for God’s hand upon our lives.
