Tim and Lucia Kennedy receiving support from Pastor McCoy and Missions Representative R. Terrell Brinson
It is always a special day when someone accepts the call of God upon his or her life; then makes the decision to “Go’ where God leads them, even if it means overseas…another country…a different language…different food…unfamiliar surroundings…and the list goes on and on. It was my honor to participate in the recent commissioning service for newly-appointed missionaries to Brazil, Tim and Lucia Kennedy. The Kennedys attend the Fairfield Church of God in Ohio where Darryl McCoy is pastor. More than a year ago, Pastor Darryl McCoy introduced me to the Kennedys and made clear their heart for missions and desire to minister in Brazil. Now they have fulfilled the requirements set by the World Missions Board, and they are ready to move forward in ministry. The Kennedys have been assigned to Goiânia, Brazil, as missionary educators. Tim and Lucia Kennedy began the process of raising funds needed as missionaries to Brazil. They have the support of their pastor, Bishop Darryl McCoy, his wife Denise, and the entire congregation, as evidenced by the tremendous response to the missions offering given on December 5, 2010. The local church family under Pastor McCoy’s leadership, promised continued prayerful and financial support toward their “homegrown” missionaries. Pastor McCoy said: “This ministry is an extension of our own church as we support the Kennedys while they’re in Brazil.” Lucia is originally from Brazil and came to know the Lord through the ministry of missionaries. Tim has built a career working with substance abuse and dependency in a criminal justice setting. We believe God is about to do something great in Brazil! R. Terrell Brinson Tim and Lucia Kennedy |
